Robert S. Royer
Robert Royer is a partner in the McPherson Group, LLP, a Washington D.C. based law and public policy consultancy specializing in regulatory and legislative matters relating to the financial services industry (domestic and multinational banking institutions, thrifts, credit unions, and securities firms), Government Sponsored Enterprises, non-federally regulated providers of non-traditional financial services and federal election law. Before entering private practice, Mr. Royer served as legal and legislative counsel to the Securities Industry Association and also served as Chief Clerk and General Counsel to the Joint Committee on the Library of Congress and counsel to the Committee on House Administration of the United States Congress. Mr. Royer has served as Special Counsel for Capital Markets to the Subcommittee on International Development Institutions and Finance of the Banking, Finance, and Urban Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives. Mr. Royer has also served as Special Counsel to the chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe. Mr. Royer was named one of the five most influential lobbyist for the financial services industry. Mr. Royer is also the principal in The Royer Law Firm, PLLC, a Washington based legislative and regulatory law firm.
Mr. Royer serves as General Counsel to the First Federation of the Order of Visitation Holy Mary and as General Counsel to the Army Distaff Foundation and Knollwood in a pro bono capacity. In addition, Mr. Royer served as a publicly elected member of the Conduit Road Fire Board in Maryland and is a member of the Most Venerable
Order of the Hospital of
Saint John of Jerusalem.
Mr. Royer is a member of the Bar for the District of Columbia, The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, The U.S. Federal Court District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Royer is a member of the Metropolitan Club of Washington (Washington, D.C.), Bayview Yacht Club (Detroit), Detroit Racquets Club (Detroit), and the Royal Ocean Racing Club (London, UK).
